Addis Ababa: A two-day Conference on Africa’s Faith Communities in Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, the AU Agenda 2063, and G20 South Africa’s 2025 Process will be held in Addis Ababa. The event, focusing on peace-building and climate change, is scheduled for May 13-14, 2025.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ethiopia Inter-Religious Council Secretary General Kessis Tagay Tadele briefed the media today, stating that the conference will also cover topics such as human rights protection, natural resource protection, and education. The conference aims to significantly contribute to the upcoming G20 Inter-faith Forum.
The overarching goal of the interfaith conference is for Africa’s faith communities to collaborate with stakeholders, including the African Union, to accelerate development and peace-building efforts and to foster essential relationships. The event is an annual initiative designed to promote interfaith and intercultural harmony and peace.
The Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia, the United Religions Initiative-Africa, and the G20 Interfaith Forum, in collaboration with African Union bodies, are organizing the conference. The secretary general highlighted that Ethiopia is expected to share its rich experience in religious tolerance and harmony with conference participants.
This gathering will attract religious and traditional leaders, interfaith and faith-based organizations, diplomatic communities, policymakers, NGOs, scholars, and various other stakeholders from across Africa and beyond.
