Ethiopia Striving to Enhance Diplomatic Successes by Providing Pre-deployment Training to Its Diplomats

ADDIS ABABA — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that training being provided to newly appointed ambassadors will enable them to understand the dynamics of global diplomatic circumstances and promote national interests with efficiency and determination. State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, briefed the media today regarding the training, which commenced on July 11, 2024.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, President Sahle-Work Zewde appointed 24 ambassadors in May this year. The pre-deployment training covers a range of national, regional, continental, and international issues relevant to Ethiopia’s national interests, including economic diplomacy, Ethiopia’s role in multilateral forums, diaspora policy, and media relations, among other vital issues. The training aims to help the newly appointed ambassadors effectively promote Ethiopia’s national interests.



Ayano emphasized that the training will enable the ambassadors to serve the country with determination and efficiency. By understanding Ethiopia’s preparedness in economic diplomacy, media relations, and digital diplomacy, the ambassadors will have vital tools to protect the interests of the country in the dynamic world of diplomacy. Additionally, newly appointed ambassadors are expected to demonstrate patriotism and acquire knowledge to promote national interests.



The training covers major national, regional, and international issues and will run for two weeks.
