Brasilia: On the occasion, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Brazil, Ambassador Leulseged Tadesse, emphasized that tourism is one of the top priorities of the Ethiopian 10-Year Development Plan. Ethiopia is actively pursuing comprehensive initiatives to bolster its tourism sector, which it views as a critical source of income, employment, and economic growth. These initiatives include the opening of new tourist destinations aimed at enhancing the sector’s competitiveness and effectiveness.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ambassador Tadesse highlighted the strategic importance of tourism as a means to deepen economic and people-to-people ties among BRICS members and partners. He advocated for strengthened intra-BRICS partnerships through the exchange of knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as increased investment in the tourism sector.
The BRICS Tourism Ministers issued a joint declaration underscoring the significance of cooperation among BRICS countries. They aim to position tourism as a central pillar of sustainable and inclusive growth, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in this vital sector.
