Ethiopia, South Africa Pledge to Strengthen Ties at Global Platforms

Addis Ababa: Ethiopia and South Africa have been seeking cooperation beyond bilateral relations in platforms like the African Union, BRICS, and other global forums. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos held discussions today with the South African Ambassador to Ethiopia, Nonceba Losi, at his office. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral and continental issues, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the longstanding and historical ties between the two countries.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Gedion noted Ethiopia and South Africa share strong bilateral relations and work closely on various multilateral platforms, including the African Union. Ambassador Nonceba Losi expressed South Africa’s commitment to further enhancing the partnership between the two countries. She also noted the shared interest in advancing cooperation beyond bilateral relations in platforms like the African Union, BRICS, and other global forums. The Ambassador also reiterated South Africa’s keenness to work collaboratively to ensure the success of the upcoming 38th African Union Summit.
