Ethiopia Pledges Continued Support for African Football Development, President Announces

ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia’s President Taye Atske Selassie has reiterated the nation’s steadfast support for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in its mission to advance the continent’s football aspirations. Addressing the 46th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF, President Taye underscored the significance of football to Africa’s identity and cultural heritage.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, President Taye highlighted the pivotal role sports play in uniting Africa, emphasizing its ability to transcend national boundaries and cultural differences. His remarks align with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which envisions a unified Africa characterized by a strong cultural identity and shared values.

President Taye reaffirmed Ethiopia’s dedication to creating a legacy that respects historical achievements while setting the stage for future triumphs in African football. He echoed FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s focus on developing young talent and harnessing Africa’s collective strengths to elevate the s
port on the international stage.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed his appreciation for Ethiopia’s hospitality in hosting the assembly. He stressed that the success of football across Africa is intertwined with the accomplishments of all 54 member countries. Motsepe also conveyed his admiration for the passion and commitment displayed by African nations towards football during his various visits across the continent.
