Ethiopia Hosts Training for South Sudanese Diplomats to Bolster Bilateral Ties

ADDIS ABABA — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Institute of Foreign Affairs, has launched a training program for South Sudanese diplomats aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and mutual development between the two nations. The program is set to begin with the arrival of 20 diplomats from South Sudan in Addis Ababa on June 3, 2024.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, during a briefing session in Juba, the training is crucial for building diplomatic capacities and enhancing the cooperative ties between Ethiopia and South Sudan. He emphasized the program’s importance in fostering a stronger partnership through shared knowledge and skills.

Nebil Mahdi, the Ethiopian Ambassador to South Sudan, expressed his congratulations to the diplomats and reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to supporting South Sudan. He outlined the various areas of collaboration, including infrastructure projects like road and electricity development, which are part of Ethiopia’s efforts to solidify historical relations and promote economic cooperation with South Sudan.

Ambassador Mahdi encouraged the diplomats to actively participate in the training sessions and to take the opportunity to explore Addis Ababa, highlighting its status as one of the fastest-growing cities in Africa.
