Addis Ababa: The Ministry of Finance and the World Bank have entered into a grant agreement totaling 60 million USD to facilitate the implementation of the Innovative Systems to Promote Integrated, Resilient, and Enhanced Responses to Women and Girls’ Health (INSPIRER) project.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the INSPIRER project aligns with Ethiopia’s Health Sector Development Investment Plan (HSDIP). It focuses on strengthening health systems through climate resilience, digital solutions, and equity interventions aimed at improving health outcomes for women and girls.
The project specifically targets vulnerable populations in areas experiencing climate stress and conflict. It will directly benefit 15 million women and girls in drought-prone regions, including Afar, Somali, and Gambella, while also enhancing health systems across the nation.
The agreement was signed virtually on February 23, 2025, by Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance representing the Government of Ethiopia, and Maryam Salim, Division Director for Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, and South Sudan at the World Bank.
