Ethiopia and Russia Highlight Strong Parliamentary Ties at BRICS Forum in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG – The Speaker of Ethiopia’s House of Federation, Agegnehu Teshager, has lauded the robust parliamentary relations between Ethiopia and Russia during the ongoing 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the high-level delegation from Ethiopia, led by Speaker Teshager, is participating in the forum under the theme “The BRICS Parliamentary Dimension: Prospects for Strengthening Interparliamentary Cooperation.” Speaking to Sputnik on the forum’s sidelines, Teshager emphasized the strong ties between the two nations’ legislative bodies and the broader BRICS parliamentary community.



The Speaker highlighted that Ethiopia and Russia have forged nearly 22 agreements across various sectors, including defense, mining, and education, with 14 already ratified. He stressed the importance of interparliamentary cooperation for capacity building and technical support, which he believes are vital for both countries and other BRICS members.



Teshager also mentioned the need for continued collaboration on peace, leadership, and economic activities, underscoring the strategic significance of Ethiopia’s relationship with Russia within the international arena.
