MOSCOW — Ethiopia and Russia have pledged to deepen their governmental and people-to-people relationships, announced Adem Farah, Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of the Prosperity Party, during the 'World Majority for Multipolar Order' forum in Russia.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the high-level Ethiopian delegation, led by Adem Farah, is attending the forum from June 16 to 19, 2024. During the event, Farah engaged in discussions with Andrey Klimov, Undersecretary of the General Council of the United Russia Party, where both parties reaffirmed their long-standing and robust bilateral relations.
Farah expressed gratitude towards Russia for its consistent support to Ethiopia in challenging times and highlighted Ethiopia’s recent inclusion in the BRICS group as a significant diplomatic achievement, appreciating Russia's role in this development. He emphasized the importance of enhancing government-to-government and people-to-people connections and called for an improved trade environment to boost Ethiopian exports like coffee, horticulture, sesame, and grains directly to the Russian market.
Additionally, Farah extended an invitation to leaders of the United Russia Party and Russian business community members to visit Ethiopia, aiming to foster deeper economic and political ties.
Andrey Klimov reciprocated the sentiments, expressing his party’s eagerness to bolster ties with Ethiopia's Prosperity Party. He congratulated Ethiopia on its BRICS membership and committed to advancing the partnership in various sectors, reflecting the enduring alliance between the two nations.
