Ethiopia and IFAD Forge Ahead on Agricultural Development Initiatives




ADDIS ABABA-Ethiopia’s Ministry of Finance and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) are deepening their collaborative efforts to enhance the nation’s agricultural sector. In a recent meeting, State Minister of Finance, Semereta Sewasew, and IFAD’s Regional Director for East and Southern Africa, Sara Mbago-Bhunu, discussed strategic enhancements to their partnership.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the discussions centered on exploring new resource windows such as the Private Sector Window and enhancing collaboration with other development partners. IFAD’s contributions have significantly bolstered small-scale irrigation projects and rural finance institutions, vital for Ethiopia’s rural development. This meeting marks a significant step towards reinforcing the partnership aimed at supporting sustainable development and economic growth in Ethiopia.
