ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister, Gedion Timothewos, led a delegation to Djibouti for significant bilateral discussions with Djiboutian leaders. The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in trade, port utilization, regional security, and political developments, underscoring the unique and strong ties between the two East African nations.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Minister Gedion met with Djibouti’s President, Ismail Omar Guelleh, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, to discuss various bilateral and regional issues. These discussions aimed to reinforce the historical and cultural links shared by both nations, which are further strengthened by a modern electrified railway that facilitates the efficient movement of goods.
Minister Gedion emphasized the constructive and productive nature of the discussions, noting that updates were provided to President Guelleh about earlier meetings with Foreign Minister Youssouf. The dialogue highlighted the i
mportance of the railway in cementing people-to-people ties and enhancing economic interactions between Ethiopia and Djibouti.
