Addis Ababa – Ethiopia is actively working to increase the number of legal overseas employment opportunities for its citizens in Europe and Asia, in addition to existing arrangements with the Middle East, stated Minister of Labor and Skills Muferihat Kamil.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the efforts include establishing legal agreements with countries to ensure better employment conditions, pay, and respect for the rights and safety of Ethiopian workers abroad. Muferihat noted that in the past ten months, 304,000 Ethiopians have secured jobs in countries that have formal agreements with Ethiopia. She emphasized the importance of cooperation from Ethiopian embassies and the need for caution against illegal traffickers.
