Addis Ababa: The enduring ties between Ethiopia and Turkiye reflect the two nations’ commitment to building a future, rooted in mutual respect and shared region, Deputy Chairman of Turkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AK) said. The second regular congress of Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party, which is set to run for three days, commenced at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum on Friday.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, addressing the congress, Zafer Sirakaya, Deputy Chairman of Turkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AK), noted that the enduring ties between the two countries and parties reflect their commitment to building a future rooted in mutual respect and shared region. He expressed his hope that the decisions made at the congress would not only benefit Ethiopia but also contribute to further stability within the continent and global stability and prosperity.
For the Deputy Chairman, Ethiopia holds a unique place in the continent as one of the oldest civilizations, and a center of culture, histo
ry, and diversity, being home to numerous languages, religions, and ethnic communities. He stated that Ethiopia continues to stand as a beacon of heritage and resilience, representing one of humanity’s most inspiring stories for many around the world.
Sirakaya also highlighted Ethiopia’s heroic fight for sovereignty, emphasizing that it not only empowered its own people but also served as a beacon of hope for nations striving for freedom and dignity globally. He underscored Turkiye’s deep understanding of the spirit of independence and the shared legacy of resilience, self-determination, and commitment to sovereignty between the two nations.
He affirmed that the relations between Ethiopia and Turkiye have grown stronger and more dynamic, with flourishing trade, education, and cultural ties over the past decade. Noting Turkiye’s commitment to Ethiopia’s development alongside its belief in regional cooperation, the AK Party Deputy Chairman emphasized the importance of stability in the Horn of Africa.
