Erongo Youth Forum Leader Advocates for Legal, Constructive Engagement

Swakopmund – Serron Nghoshi, the Chairperson of the Erongo Regional Youth Forum, has urged young people in the region to avoid illegal activities and instead engage in responsible and constructive behaviors, particularly during the festive season.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), In his festive season message to the community, shared with Nampa, Nghoshi emphasized the importance of the youth recognizing and seizing the opportunities available to them. He acknowledged the high unemployment rate among young people, especially in rural areas, which is a significant national issue. Currently, youth unemployment in Namibia exceeds 40 percent and is expected to rise with more graduates completing their studies.

Nghoshi highlighted that there are numerous activities and volunteering platforms available for the youth in the region. These opportunities are provided by various institutions and are facilitated by the Regional Youth Office Directorate of both Sport and Youth Development. He stressed that these activities are not only instrumental in keeping the youth engaged and off the streets but also crucial in empowering them with self-knowledge and skills, especially those with limited educational backgrounds.

Additionally, Nghoshi expressed concern over the increasing abuse of alcohol among young people, which often hinders their ability to recognize opportunities and strive to reach their potential. He urged the youth to focus on personal development and to contribute positively to their communities.
