Embu, Kenya – In preparation for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Government has intensified security measures throughout Embu County. This initiative aims to ensure a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors during the festive period.
According to Kenya News Agency, County Commissioner Jack Obuo, in a statement from his office, outlined the comprehensive security plan. He assured that an adequate number of security officers have been deployed across the county to protect life and property. All police stations, posts, and administrative offices will operate at full capacity, guaranteeing prompt responses to any reported incidents.
Obuo emphasized the importance of maintaining public order and encouraged residents to abide by the law. The security strategy includes effective and visible patrols throughout the county, allowing people to conduct their activities without disruption.
Particularly noteworthy is the increased surveillance on major highways, including the Nairobi-Meru and Embu-Kiritiri Highways. The goal is to enforce traffic regulations more stringently and reduce the likelihood of accidents during this high-traffic season.
In lieu of roadblocks, strategic patrols, in collaboration with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), will monitor motorists to ensure compliance with traffic rules. Boda boda operators are also being integrated into this plan, serving as on-road ambassadors to report any violations and adhere to traffic laws themselves.
Mr. Obuo further addressed the management of bars and entertainment venues, instructing them to follow operational hours and prohibit the sale of alcohol to minors. “We will carry out regular patrols to ensure there is strict adherence to alcoholic laws, especially with regards to hours of operation,” he stated.
Additionally, armed security officers will be deployed at major places of worship to prevent any security breaches, ensuring the safety of congregants during this period of heightened activity.
The comprehensive measures taken by the Government in Embu County reflect a proactive approach to maintaining peace and safety during the holiday festivities.
