End of War Paves Way for Sports Infrastructure Development, Says President Louren§o

Luanda: President Joo Louren§o highlighted on Wednesday that the conclusion of the war has facilitated the development of substantial sports infrastructure across multiple provinces in Angola, including the construction of football stadiums and multipurpose pavilions. This announcement was made during his State of the Nation Address at the commencement of the 2025-2026 Parliamentary Year.

According to Angola Press News Agency, President Louren§o emphasized that these developments have positioned Angola to potentially host significant international sporting events. He mentioned that the country is now better equipped to host major competitions such as the African Championships in handball, basketball, and football, as well as the World Cup in roller hockey.

The President's remarks underscore the strategic importance of sports infrastructure in promoting Angola on the global stage and enhancing its capacity to attract and manage large-scale sporting events.
