FADA N’GOURMA— The TODI-YABA Association unveiled its latest initiative on June 13, 2024, the ‘TIN TODI project’, aimed at enhancing the socio-economic conditions of women and girls in Fada N’Gourma, Diapangou, and Diabo. This project, building on the successes of the prior ‘TIN FI’ initiative, focuses on supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable local women by developing their skills in various income-generating activities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the TIN TODI project, meaning mutual aid in Gulmancema, is co-financed by the ‘Francophonie avec Elles’ fund and the association itself, featuring a significant subsidy from the primary donor. With a budget of 57 million CFA francs, the project has launched with substantial support, providing both financial and material assistance to 160 selected women over an 18-month period.
The initiative includes diverse vocational training in fields such as saponification, food processing, and small-scale trades like sewing and hairdressing. It aims to equip participants with not only the theoretical knowledge but also the practical tools necessary for sustaining their businesses post-project. The distribution of more than 100 installation kits to beneficiaries marks a pivotal step in transitioning these women towards self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
Significantly, the project also introduces a structural component where beneficiaries are organized into simplified cooperative societies. This is intended to foster a supportive network that ensures the sustainability of the businesses established under the TIN TODI project. Project executives, including Ernest Natama, emphasize the continuous support system that will accompany these cooperatives, ranging from tailored action plans to on-ground coaching.
In response to the project’s launch, beneficiaries and local officials expressed profound gratitude and optimism. Anna Lompo, a recipient of the new equipment, committed to leveraging this opportunity to its fullest potential, echoing the sentiment of many involved in this empowering venture.
