Embu, Kenya – The County Government of Embu has received a significant donation of non-pharmaceutical medical supplies valued at Sh 10 million. The Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) provided this much-needed consignment.

According to Kenya News Agency, the supplies include clinical gloves, face masks and shields, syringes, aprons, cotton wool, and blood bags, which are destined for health personnel in the county’s four sub-counties. Deputy Governor Kinyua Mugo, while receiving the supplies at Embu Level Five Hospital, revealed that an additional consignment of drugs, estimated at Sh. 20 million, is expected to arrive on Saturday, followed by another shipment worth Sh. 34 million next week. These deliveries are set to address the drug shortages that have been a concern for patients in the county.

The Deputy Governor assured residents that by the end of next week, all health facilities in the county would be sufficiently stocked with drugs. He also promised to establish mechanisms to ensure timely procurement of drugs and medical commodities in the future, acknowledging that delays in the procurement cycle have contributed to past shortages.
