Elections Progressing Smoothly at Mangetti Dune and Aasvo«lnes

Tsumkwe: Representatives of political parties at the Mangetti Dune Church polling station in the Tsumkwe Constituency in the Otjozondjupa Region have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing regional councils and local authorities elections.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Desmond Coma of the Swapo Party stated his contentment with the voting process, noting the significant voter turnout. He emphasized the importance of every vote, expressing hope for more participation as the day progressed.

Venoumba Tjetjoo, the party agent of the National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO), also reported a smooth process, highlighting the proper arrangements and absence of conflicts at the polling station. Similarly, Max Egelser, representing independent candidate Petrus Mutji, confirmed that the process was proceeding well despite a slow start. However, Egelser expressed concern over the low voter turnout and the limited participation of youth.

Charon Kavikunua, the presiding officer at Mangetti Dune, shared that about 126 people had voted, expressing her satisfaction and optimism for increased participation later in the day. At the Aasvo«lnes polling station, presiding officer Kunyima Muhomeki reported approximately 50 voters had cast their ballots and confirmed the smooth conduct of the elections.
