Elderly Screened for Eye Disorders in Sabou by German NGO

Boulkiemde/countryside: Elderly people screened for visual problems in Sabou: The German NGO Good Vision Burkina organized a free campaign to screen for visual disorders among the elderly at the Gounghin primary school.



According to Burkina Information Agency, before the start of the consultations, optician Aboubacar ZIBA and his team conducted an awareness session on common eye diseases such as hyperopia, myopia, presbyopia, and cataracts. They also discussed good dietary practices that promote eye health. ZIBA emphasized the importance of vision, stating, “The eyes are the mirror of the world. Good vision means a better quality of life.”



The campaign was initiated by Moussa Konombo, a native of Gounghin, who expressed concern about the visual health situation in his locality. “We asked the NGO Good Vision to come and provide relief to our parents and help them prevent or correct their visual problems,” Konombo explained.



Ms. Z©nabou SEDEGO, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her appreciation for the initiative. She noted that it was a source of pride to understand the state of her eyesight and encouraged others to reach out to the NGO for regular monitoring.



The campaign received sponsorship from the Chief Medical Officer of the Sabou health district, Dr. Mari¨ta Mitiketa OUEDRAOGO.
