Eight Perish in Road Accident at Oniimbwele Village

Ondangwa: Eight people perished and 15 others were injured, after the Iveco bus they were travelling in collided head-on with a sand truck at Oniimbwele village on the Ondangwa-Omuthiya main road on Monday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Oshikoto Head of Community Policing, Chief Inspector Ellen Nehale, stated that the incident happened some 10 kilometres out of Ondangwa at around 17h00. Nehale reported that among the deceased, who were aged between 20 and 52 years, were the bus driver, two minor girls, four females, and one male.

The 52-year-old Namibian male truck driver survived the crash and sustained serious injuries to both legs. Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck was reportedly travelling from the Onathinge area towards Ondangwa, while the bus was heading from the opposite direction, en route to Windhoek at the time of the accident.
