Windhoek: The Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia (EIF) announced the approval of 26 institutional grants totaling over N.dollars 3.7 million for the 2025/26 financial year. These grants are set to benefit projects across various priority sectors in the country.
According to Namibia Press Agency, EIF spokesperson Romeo Muyunda revealed that these grants include eight youth-led and 11 female-led initiatives. This move highlights EIF’s commitment to promoting inclusivity, gender equity, and youth empowerment through its funding opportunities.
The approved projects comprise 12 start-ups and 14 existing projects, all designed to strengthen vulnerable livelihoods, enhance climate change adaptation, and promote sustainable resource management. These initiatives aim to support nature-based entrepreneurship, aligning with Namibia’s goals for sustainable development and climate resilience.
Muyunda further mentioned that EIF has allocated approximately N.dollars 5 million under its Institutional Grants Facility for the current financial year. The selection process will continue until the full allocation is completed, after which a final list of beneficiaries will be announced.
The spokesperson emphasized that broad regional representation is a priority, with each region receiving an average of two funded projects. EIF is committed to transparent and impact-driven grant management, considering institutional grants a vital investment in Namibia’s capacity to address environmental and climate challenges.
The fund affirmed its dedication to monitoring grant performance and providing technical support to ensure effective outcomes for all Namibians.
