Rafah: Egypt's Rafah crossing, the only channel linking the Gaza Strip with Egypt, will be reopened on Sunday, an Egyptian security source told Xinhua on Saturday. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated that approximately 600 aid trucks are anticipated to enter Gaza via the crossing as part of a ceasefire-for-hostage release deal.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, reached on Wednesday, is scheduled to take effect on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. local time (0630 GMT). Machines have been operating near the crossing area to rehabilitate internal roads leading to Gaza, as reported by the source.
Another source from the Egyptian Red Crescent teams in North Sinai confirmed that around 600 aid trucks carrying medical supplies, tents, and field hospital modules, along with 50 additional trucks loaded with fuel, are expected to enter Gaza following inspection by the Israeli side. Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar is visiting the crossing to supervise preparations for receiving wounded Palestinians from the Strip, added the source from the Egyptian Red Crescent.
Ahmad Samir, a provincial health official of North Sinai, informed Xinhua that hospitals in Arish, Sheik Zuweid, and Rafah are fully prepared to receive the wounded.
