Egypt Records 8% Decline in Population Growth in 2023


Cairo: Egypt has witnessed an 8% decrease in its population growth rate in 2023 compared to the previous year, as stated by Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar. This development reflects the country’s efforts to manage its rising population numbers.



According to African News Agency, The spokesperson of the Ministry, citing official data, reported that the number of births in 2023 averaged 5,599 per day, or approximately 233 per hour. Additionally, the health minister highlighted a decline in the birth rate over the past five years, from 3.5 to 2.85 per woman, underscoring Egypt’s proactive measures to address its population growth.
