South Korean group Hyundai Rotem and the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority (SCZONE) have signed a contract to supply 40 trains and 320 cars for lines 1 and 2 of the Cairo metro. The agreement also provides for the construction of a local vehicle and railway equipment manufacturing unit. The local factory project will be carried out in 2 phases, over an area of 85,000 square meters.
