Yatenga: Teachers and students from both public and private primary schools in Yatenga have collectively contributed 5,121,271 FCFA to the Patriotic Support Fund as part of the Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation Days (JEPPC). The funds were officially handed over in a ceremony presided over by Issouf Ouédraogo, Governor of the Northern Region. According to Burkina Information Agency, the gathering took place at the public primary school block of "Souli" in Ouahigouya, where participants including education officials, students, teachers, and parents convened to support the peace initiative. The event began with students singing the national anthem in Mooré and a flag-raising ceremony. The contribution comprised 232,000 FCFA from teachers in Ouahigouya 2's basic education district and 4,889,271 FCFA from students across various schools. Salam Ouédraogo, Yatenga's provincial director of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF), explained that the initiative aimed to instill a sense of patriotic duty in students, emphasizing the importance of individual and collective sacrifices for the development of Faso. The occasion also served to express appreciation to the defense and security forces for their assistance in reopening and securing schools, with around one hundred schools reopened last year and sixty more this year. Salam Ouédraogo commended the educational community's resilience and dedication to providing hope through education. Governor Issouf Ouédraogo praised the community's efforts, congratulating the students for their financial contributions to the nation's cause. He highlighted the importance of their actions as a testament to their national pride and awareness of their role in Burkina Faso's security and development. The governor urged all education stakeholders to maintain their patriotic spirit.
