Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso – The second Joint Monitoring Mission (MCS) on the Strategic Plan for the Development of Basic and Secondary Education (PSDEBS) concluded its activities on Friday, May 24, 2024, with a series of recommendations aimed at improving education in Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, of National Education, Literacy, and the Promotion of National Languages, the mission gathered various stakeholders in Bobo-Dioulasso from May 20 to 24 to review the progress of the PSDEBS for 2023. This strategic plan, which covers the period from 2021 to 2025, aims to foster a democratic, efficient, and resilient education system that contributes to the training of responsible citizens.
The session, chaired by Minister Dingara, focused on assessing the technical and financial implementation of the plan’s activities and monitoring its key performance indicators. The meeting served as a crucial forum for discussing the outcomes, addressing concerns, and planning future actions. Key discussions included improving the integration of internally displaced children into the education system, enhancing communication about policy implementation, and better managing the allocated financial resources.
Permanent Secretary Bonaventure Segda highlighted the need to improve the monitoring of students in private educational institutions affected by insecurity. Meanwhile, Céleste Staley, Head of Technical and Financial Partners, commended the quality of the results achieved and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Burkina Faso’s education sector.
