Gobabis: Chairperson of the Omaheke Regional Council, Rocco Nguvauva, on Saturday described the Omaheke Career Fair as a symbol of possibility which reminds learners that education is the most powerful tool for transformation. Speaking at the career fair held at the Gobabis Vocational Training Centre, Nguvauva emphasized that education is an instrument that breaks the cycle of poverty, builds confidence, and prepares youth to contribute meaningfully to national development. "When we invest in education, we invest in the future strength and dignity of Namibia," he stated. According to Namibia Press Agency, Nguvauva commended the outstanding academic achievements of Epako High School, which achieved first place at the regional level in the 2025 final results. He also praised Epukiro Secondary School for its exceptional national performance, which placed fourth in the country, elevating the pride and academic standing of the Omaheke Region. These achievements, he noted, signify a remarkable and encouraging tren d for education in the region, demonstrating what is possible when learners, teachers, and communities work with determination and purpose. Nguvauva highlighted that educational excellence is inseparable from discipline in the classroom, as well as in homes, institutions, and communities. "Discipline shapes character, strengthens responsibility, and prepares our young people not only for careers but for leadership and service to the nation," he remarked. As the councillor for the Okorukambe Constituency, Nguvauva emphasized that education requires unity among all stakeholders and cannot succeed in isolation. He called for strong collaboration between the government, schools, tertiary institutions-both public and private-the police, parents, community leaders, and the broader society of Omaheke. He urged all stakeholders to work in harmony to create safer learning environments, expand opportunities, strengthen guidance, and ensure that no learner is left behind. "Together, we move closer to the noble goal of education for all," he stated. The Swapo councillor also applauded President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah for her "visionary, technocratic and capable leadership," which has led to a subsidised tertiary education model covering 100 per cent tuition support. "This is a remarkable milestone that opens doors for Namibians to access higher education and be upskilled across all sectors of our economy. This bold investment in human capital is shaping a more equal, skilled and prosperous Namibia," he said. Nguvauva encouraged the learners present to dream boldly, work diligently, remain disciplined, and believe in their potential. "Your future is not limited by where you come from, but expanded by what you choose to become," he concluded.
