Edivânia Soares Crowned Miss CPLP Angola 2023, Will Represent Nation in Portugal

LUANDA – Edivânia Soares, hailing from the province of Huambo, emerged as the winner of the 7th edition of the Miss Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) Angola 2023 beauty contest early Sunday morning in Luanda.

According to a new release by Angola Press News Agency, the gala event featured 16 candidates vying for the title. Edivânia Soares, 25, will go on to represent Angola in April 2024 at the CPLP gala in Portugal, a competition comprising representatives from countries of the Portuguese-speaking community.

Several other awards were given during the event. Noémia José from Benguela won Miss Photogenic, Deográcia Cuty from Luanda won Miss Ecological, and Luema Bengui from Cuanza Sul was named the goodwill ambassador. Additionally, Djamila Barboza from Bengo won Miss Friendly, and Carlota Cipriano from Lunda Norte won the influence category. Benvinda Felizberto from Bié won the best province representative, a new category, while Marcela Quissanga from Uíge won Miss Ubunto.

Soares plans to focus her tenure on environmental preservation, particularly concerning oceanic ecosystems. The Miss CPLP contest aims to promote social, cultural, and tourism development within the Portuguese-speaking community.
