Windhoek: Air Connect Namibia announced on Wednesday that Edelweiss Air will begin non-stop flights between Zurich and Windhoek twice a week starting 01 June 2026. Edelweiss, Switzerland’s leisure airline, is supported by several public and private stakeholders under the Air Connect Namibia initiative.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibia Airports Company (NAC) CEO, Bisey /Uirab, announced in Windhoek that the new route is more than just a flight; it is a new bridge between Europe and Namibia. ‘We are thrilled to welcome Edelweiss to Namibia. This connection elevates our country’s status as a global tourism and investment destination,’ he said.

The announcement follows steady growth in travel between Switzerland and Namibia. In 2024, an estimated 22,000 passengers travelled between the two countries, a seven per cent increase compared to 2023.
