Dundo: Economist José Cangolo remarked in Dundo, Lunda-Norte province, that the recent visit to Angola by U.S. President Joe Biden underscores the nation's economic potential and may increase interest from other countries in investing within Angolan borders. According to Angola Press News Agency, Cangolo, a university professor, emphasized that Biden's visit opens new horizons in the bilateral relationship between Angola and the United States, particularly in the economic and transportation sectors. This development is poised to significantly aid the growth and diversification of Angola's national economy. "We believe that with this historic visit, Angola marks an important step in its diplomacy, and the world will henceforth view our country differently, facilitating greater foreign investment," Cangolo stated. He further noted that "Joe Biden's visit demonstrates a gain in Angola's political and economic diplomacy and confirms the country's importance in Africa." Addressing the potential of the Lobito Co rridor, Cangolo highlighted its vital role in enhancing the movement of goods and services between the eastern provinces and Angola's coast. He noted that investments in the rail, road, and logistical infrastructures within the Lobito Corridor could serve as a catalyst for strengthening the national business landscape. The economist also pointed out the strategic economic significance of the Lobito Corridor, considering its connection with Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which share borders with Angola's Moxico, Lunda-Norte, and Lunda Sul provinces. President Joe Biden's three-day visit to Angola commenced on Monday, focusing on bolstering bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Alongside a meeting with the Angolan President at the Upper City Palace, Biden's itinerary includes a visit to the Slavery Museum. On Wednesday, he is scheduled to travel to the Benguela province to tour the Grupo Carrinho food processing factory and the Port of Lobito, a crucial element of the Lobito Corridor in frastructure.
