ECN Otjozondjupa Begins Issuance of Duplicate Voter Cards

Otjiwarongo: The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) on Monday initiated the process of issuing duplicate voter cards in the seven constituencies of the Otjozondjupa Region. This measure comes in preparation for the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections scheduled for 26 November 2025.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the reprinting of these duplicate cards is taking place at the constituency offices located in Tsumkwe, Grootfontein, Otavi, Okakarara, Okahandja, Omatako, and Otjiwarongo. ECN's Otjozondjupa Regional Electoral Officer, Victoria Amutenya, announced that the issuance is exclusive to individuals who have either lost or damaged their voter cards. She emphasized that no new applications will be processed during this period, which commenced on Monday and will conclude on 25 November 2025.

The reprinting and issuance process operates from 08h00 to 19h00, Monday through Friday, across the designated constituency offices. To obtain a duplicate voter card, applicants must present a police declaration and their original identity card. Amutenya explained that the procedure is straightforward and efficient, given that the applicants' details have been stored in the ECN systems since 2024. Once an ECN official inputs an applicant's name, their information is displayed on the screen, allowing for the swift printing of a duplicate voter card.

Amutenya also noted that the ECN anticipates a limited number of applicants for duplicate cards, as the service is strictly for those who have lost or damaged their existing cards.
