MARIENTAL: The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) convened a stakeholder meeting on Wednesday at Mariental’s Persianer Hall to promote collaboration and communication among various authorities and parties in the Hardap Region. The gathering aimed to enhance cooperative engagement as Namibia prepares for its general elections on November 27, 2024. Participants included representatives from law enforcement, healthcare, and political parties such as Swapo, the Popular Democratic Movement, and the Landless People’s Movement.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the meeting featured officers from the Namibian Police Force, correctional facilities, health institutions, and political parties. It was attended by regional electoral officer Willem | Uirab, along with returning officers from the Mariental Urban, Mariental Rural, Aranos, Gibeon, and Daweb constituencies. The regional electoral officer outlined the primary objective of the meeting, stating, “We are here to share information and hear from various stakeho
lders on how to strengthen cooperation between the different stakeholders and representatives from different political parties in the region.”
To ensure comprehensive election preparation, returning officers disseminated essential information regarding polling stations within their constituencies. The discussions also underscored the importance of mutual respect among political parties and adherence to the code of conduct to avert tensions. Stakeholders agreed that maintaining a peaceful election environment is crucial to the democratic process.
