Eastern Region Governor Delivers End-of-Year Message of Resilience and Unity

FADA N’GOURMA – Colonel Hubert Yaméogo, the Governor of Burkina Faso’s Eastern region, delivered a poignant end-of-year message on Saturday, December 30, 2023, in Fada N’Gourma. His address to the population highlighted themes of recognition, resilience, unity, and encouragement.



According to Burkina Information Agency, his message began with a tribute to all those who have been lost in the region, either due to conflict or other causes. He paid special homage to the members of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) who have fallen in battle, as well as the civilians who have suffered due to the ongoing security challenges.



Governor Yaméogo expressed his deep gratitude and recognition to the individuals who tirelessly work to maintain the region’s stability and pursue socio-economic development despite adversities. This acknowledgment extended to public and parapublic officials, journalists, farmers, and breeders, who have all demonstrated resilience in the face of challenges.



The Governor also commended civil society organizations for their significant role in raising awareness among the population. Their dedication and efforts in supporting community resilience and development were highlighted as integral to the region’s progress.



In addressing the students of the region, Governor Yaméogo congratulated them for their perseverance in seeking knowledge despite the security crisis, acknowledging the difficulties they face in their educational pursuits.



Speaking to the daughters and sons of Gulmu, both in the region and in the diaspora, the Governor stressed the importance of their collaboration with state actors. He emphasized that united efforts are crucial for overcoming challenges and encouraged them to increase their commitment and support for the region’s development initiatives. He urged them not to succumb to despair but to actively participate in supporting the efforts of the FDS and VDP, including setting up monitoring cells where necessary.



In conclusion, Colonel Hubert Yaméogo expressed his hope for the year 2024 to bring comfort, security, peace, and prosperity to the Eastern region of Burkina Faso.
