Eastern Region Artists Present National Culture Week Awards to Governor

Fada N’Gourma, Burkina Faso — The Eastern region’s winners of the 2024 National Culture Week (SNC) presented their awards to Governor Ram Joseph Kafando on Thursday, May 30, 2024. The ceremony recognized the achievements of local artists who excelled in the national competition.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the representative of the artists, the group’s success was supported significantly by the local community and regional authorities. The artists from three of the five provinces in the Eastern region participated in competitions spanning performing arts, culinary arts, and sports, securing six awards in total.



Grace Kina, a student from Yembila Abdoulaye Toguyéni University in Fada N’Gourma, won the first national prize in the slam poetry category and received a special prize from the Ministry of Youth and Employment. Her entries were notably aligned with the theme of SNC 2024. Kina expressed profound pride and joy for representing the Eastern region in her first participation at the national level.



In the culinary arts category, Yentéma Namoano secured the first national prize with a local dish made from cereals and a Guinea fowl sauce, noted for its health benefits including blood pressure regulation and rheumatism relief.



Governor Kafando praised the recipients for their exceptional performance and contributions, highlighting their resilience and the positive image they projected of the Eastern region at the SNC. He expressed great satisfaction with the artists’ accomplishments and encouraged them to continue their artistic endeavors.



Governor Kafando also expressed hope for increased participation in future editions of the National Culture Week, urging artists to continue striving for excellence.
