Eastern Burkina Faso’s Tabaski Prayer Focuses on National Unity and Peace

GOURMA — During the Tabaski festival on Sunday, June 16, 2024, Imam El hadji Aboubakar Kina led prayers in Fada N’Gourma, emphasizing support for the transitional authorities and those working towards national territorial integrity. The event attracted a large gathering of men, women, and children at Martyrs’ Square in Yendabili, reflecting their devotion through the Eid El Kabir celebrations.

Imam El hadji Aboubakar Kina, in his sermon, prayed for peace not just in the Eastern region but across all of Burkina Faso. He expressed hopes for divine support for the transition authorities and those fighting for the restoration of the nation’s territory. Additionally, Imam Kina extended his wishes to the pilgrims of Mecca, hoping for the successful completion of their religious duties. The Governor of the Eastern Region, Ram Joseph Kafando, acknowledged the Muslim community’s prayers for peace and praised their resilience despite challenging circumstances. He also encouraged unity behind the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland to combat terrorism. Further showing solidarity, Father Pascal Soubeiga, representing the Catholic community, visited the gathering to express unity and brotherhood.
