Eastern Burkina Faso Implements One-Month Tricycle Ban, Excluding Fada N’Gourma

Eastern Region, Burkina Faso – Colonel Hubert Yaméogo, the governor of the Eastern region in Burkina Faso, has instituted a ban on the use of tricycles across the region, with the exception of Fada N’Gourma. This prohibition will be in effect from December 30, 2023, to January 31, 2024, according to information obtained by the Agence d’Information du Burkina (AIB).

According to Burkina Information Agency, by Colonel Yaméogo, specifies that the ban on tricycles, both during the day and night, will cover the entire regional territory, excluding the urban limits of Fada N’Gourma, which encompasses eleven sectors.

In addition to the tricycle ban, the press release also reminds the public of the ongoing prohibition on large-capacity motorcycles, such as Akoba, SANILI, and FORTUNE. This ban, effective in line with the decrees dated June 22 and August 3, 2022, includes restrictions on the importation, marketing, and free distribution of these motorcycles.

The primary objective of these measures is to support the ongoing efforts in combating terrorism by the Combatant Forces in the region.
