Machakos, Kenya – Joy and celebrations filled the Early Bird Primary School in Machakos as three of its candidates scored above 400 marks in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination. Elvis Bosire, the school’s top performer, achieved an impressive 407 marks out of 500.

According to Kenya News Agency, James Israel and Leon Mutua followed closely behind Bosire, scoring 403 and 400 marks respectively. Bosire, speaking to the press at the school, attributed his success to hard work and the support he received from his parents and teachers. The 14-year-old aspires to join Alliance High School for his secondary education.

Ambrose Wamalwa, the headteacher of Early Bird Primary School, reported that out of 98 students who sat for the exam, about 91 learners scored over 300 marks. “The performance was impressive. We prepared the students very well, which is why they managed to post good results,” Wamalwa said.

Additionally, the less well-known Kivai Primary School, located on the border of Machakos and Makueni counties, also saw notable success, posting a mean score of 339 marks. Kalekye Mwendwa, the school’s top candidate, scored 357 marks and dreams of attending Muthale Girls in Kitui County with aspirations of becoming a doctor.
