Kavango west: A licensed driver has been charged with culpable homicide and reckless driving after he allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian at Mupini village.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force's spokesperson for Kavango West, Raimbert Muronga, stated that the accident occurred around 20h00 on Wednesday. The driver of a white Toyota Quantum, traveling from Ondangwa to Katima Mulilo, allegedly ran over a pedestrian who was sitting on the road.
The pedestrian died instantly on the scene. The police identified the deceased as 33-year-old Josef Munango from Matende village. He was positively identified by his father at the Bunya Health Centre mortuary.
The driver is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Monday. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
