Bobo-dioulasso: The president of the national organizing committee (PCNO) of the 22nd edition of the National Culture Week (SNC) has mandated that access to official sites will be conditional upon adherence to a dress code emphasizing decency, professionalism, and the promotion of national cultural identity.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Fid¨le Tamini, president of the PCNO, issued a statement on April 15, 2026, urging media professionals involved in covering the event to avoid attire deemed sloppy, indecent, or inappropriate for the solemn nature of the ceremonies and official activities. The emphasis is on wearing traditional Burkinabe fabrics such as Faso Dan Fani and Koko Dunda, adopting a dress code that is sober and respectful, and maintaining a neat appearance in line with the values promoted by the SNC.
The PCNO has made it clear that adherence to these guidelines is a prerequisite for entering official ceremony sites. Any non-compliance could result in restrictive measures, including denial of access or exclusion of violators, in addition to potential administrative actions, as explained by Fid¨le Tamini in the statement.
The directives are backed by Decree No. 2023-0647 and Order No. 2023-0455/MCCAT/CAB, which promote the wearing of traditional fabrics, along with Ministerial Press Release No. 2025-103/MCCAT/CAB. The 22nd National Culture Week, themed "Culture, youth and transmission of social values," is scheduled to take place from April 25 to May 2, 2026, in Bobo-Dioulasso.
