Dr. Tamboura Advocates Corporate Governance for Better Financing of Private Sector in West Africa

Ouagadougou: Former Minister of Communication, Dr. Ouss©ni Tamboura, launched his first book in Ouagadougou, titled "Law and Financing of the Private Sector in West Africa," which emphasizes the significance of good governance in private companies to attract essential funding.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Tamboura's book tackles the crucial issue of financing the African private sector, asserting that effective corporate governance is key to securing financial resources. Professor Souleymane To©, presenting the book, highlighted the importance of governance tailored to the size and structure of companies to improve access to financing.

Dr. Tamboura's publication skillfully integrates legal frameworks and economic theories, offering solutions specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa, with a focus on West Africa. He underscores the need for West African companies to adhere to business law principles for better credit access and advocates for the evolution of the OHADA legal system to benefit creditors.

Furthermore, the book calls for a redefinition of the informal sector, suggesting it be recognized as a collection of legitimate and lawful enterprises that can significantly contribute to economic prosperity. This work aims to inform public authorities, businesses, students, educators, and researchers about business financing strategies in Africa.

Dr. Tamboura, a seasoned lawyer and labor market expert, has held various high-level roles, including Minister of Information and Communication and Vice-President of the National Assembly. He also teaches at universities in Burkina Faso and abroad. His book, a 225-page work derived from his 2016 business law thesis in Dakar, Senegal, is available at the Mercury bookstore for 10,000 CFA francs.
