Embu, Kenya – Principal Secretary in the State Department for Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana has called on the residents of Embu County to actively participate in fruit tree growing. Speaking at Maranga Hill in Runyenjes Sub County, Mukhwana emphasized the importance of planting avocado, macadamia, and cashew nut trees.
According to Kenya News Agency, this initiative will not only contribute to the national tree growing campaign but also provide raw materials for the proposed county aggregation and industrial park. The event, which saw the planting of 6,000 trees, was also attended by Governor Cecily Mbarire, County Commissioner Jack Obuo, and other local leaders. Governor Mbarire revealed the distribution of 100,000 seedlings across the county, tailored to the diverse climatic zones, underscoring the county's commitment to restoring local wetlands and enhancing food security.
