Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie Elected as AAS Fellow 2025

Freetown: Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, Minister of Technical and Higher Education, has been elected a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), 2025. The honour follows a competitive, merit-driven selection process and recognises individuals who have made significant, lasting contributions to science, technology, innovation and scholarship across the continent and beyond.

According to Sierra Leone News Agency, Dr. Wurie expressed that joining such a distinguished community of scholars, drawn from the Academy's ten scientific clusters, is both humbling and inspiring. She thanked the colleagues, mentors, and institutions that have shaped her career and supported her work.

Dr. Wurie remains committed to strengthening scientific excellence, evidence-based policymaking, and innovation for Sierra Leone and Africa at large.
