DR Congo conflict: 53 armed groups pledge to stop war

“If they meet those requirements, then they shall be part of the process and [will join] the rest in the ongoing peace efforts,” he said.

He reiterated that other foreign armed groups in eastern Congo must leave the country and engage their home countries on whatever grievances they have.

“Congo must not be the place where other countries fight,” he said.

EAC hopes to bring lasting peace to eastern DRC through the Nairobi Peace Process that focuses on the internal issues fuelling conflict within the nation and through the Luanda process that focuses on Kinshasa’s diplomatic issues with other nations.
