Nairobi: Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on Kenyans to support the proposed Vision 2060 development agenda, saying it provides an opportunity for the country to chart a long-term path towards economic transformation beyond electoral cycles. Speaking during a Sunday fellowship with neighbors at his Irunduni home in Tharaka Nithi County, Kindiki emphasized President William Ruto's proposal for a national dialogue on Vision 2060, aimed at developing a shared development blueprint to guide Kenya's growth for future generations.

According to Kenya News Agency, Kindiki urged leaders and citizens not to reduce the initiative to partisan politics, highlighting that while elections are periodic, national development plans have a lasting impact on the country's social and economic progress. 'The elections will come and go. There will be a winner, and there will be one who does not win, but all remain Kenyans,' said the Deputy President.

Kindiki assured that the Kenya Kwanza Administration would continue to pursue its development agenda and seek public support based on its performance in implementing key projects across the country. He noted that the government had revived more than 6,000 kilometres of previously stalled road projects after settling Sh177 billion in pending payments owed to contractors.

In Tharaka Nithi County, he mentioned that the construction of the Miomponi-Mukothima-Gachiongo-Gatunga road was progressing well, with 15 kilometres already completed. The Deputy President further stated that the government was implementing a programme to construct 600 modern markets countrywide to improve trading infrastructure and create better business opportunities for small-scale traders, adding that markets in Chuka, Chogoria, and Gatunga had already been completed.
