Gaoua – In the Poni province of Burkina Faso, the association of dozo hunters commenced the 72-hour gathering of dozos on Tuesday, expressing solidarity with the transitional government and seeking ancestral blessings for peace. The event, which saw participation from dozo communities within Burkina Faso and neighboring countries, was held in Niobini, sector 8 of Gaoua.
According to Burkina Information Agency, president of the association, the gathering was themed around addressing local insecurity and its implications. Noufé highlighted that the reunion aimed to foster unity among the dozos and contribute to national efforts against terrorism. Ritual sacrifices were performed at the ‘Dankoun’, the dozo brotherhood’s altar, to solicit ancestral guidance for peace and protection against national threats. The event also emphasized strengthening collaboration with security forces to monitor potentially suspicious activities.
