Dori Hospital Launches Open Days to Enhance Community Health Services


DORI: The Dori Regional Hospital Center (CHR) has initiated its open days with the intent of strengthening its health care relationships with the Sahel region’s population. The event, which commenced on Thursday, includes inaugurating a new scanner, a mobile oxygen generator, and the commencement of a hemodialysis center’s construction.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event is themed “Resilience of the health system in the Sahel, synergy of actions for a renewal of the CHR of Dori”. The hospital’s general director, Stéphane Zagré, emphasized the significance of the open days in enhancing the hospital’s connection with the local community. He noted that the activities will help familiarize the population with the hospital staff, care units, and services provided.

Zagré highlighted that the open days, running from October 24 to 29, 2024, will feature free screenings for non-communicable diseases, a blood donation drive, a cross-country race, public conferences, and recognitions for outstanding st
aff. These events aim to raise awareness about the necessity of bolstering the hospital’s operational capabilities to fulfill its healthcare mission effectively.

Idrissa Ouédraogo, representing CHR staff, underscored the open days as a vital opportunity for engagement with the community. He stressed the importance of informing the public about available services and motivating them to take proactive steps in managing their health.

Ouédraogo also pointed out the challenges faced in patient transfers to Ouagadougou, due to the insecurity on the Kaya-Dori road. Sahel Region Secretary General Abdoul Karim Zongo commended the resilient staff for their dedication to delivering quality care under challenging conditions. Zongo also expressed gratitude to the government for its efforts in equipping the hospital with necessary infrastructure and equipment to benefit the population.
