Dori-An informative session on the ECOTEC project was held in Dori on Wednesday, aimed at revitalizing the economy of the Sahel region by enhancing the capabilities of local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The session focused on explaining the sub-component of the project related to strengthening the capacities of SMEs and fostering technological adoption, presenting various support and business opportunities to regional economic operators.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the representative of the project coordinator, ECOTEC is facilitated by the Burkinabe government with financial aid from the World Bank. The project’s goal is to bolster job creation and economic transformation by improving access to finance, markets, technologies, and skilled labor for micro, small, and medium enterprises. Barry noted that ECOTEC is a six-year initiative structured into four main components: MSME development, access to financing and investments, workforce development, and emergency response strategies, with a total investment of 9.5 billion FCFA targeting 1,550 entrepreneurs.
