Dj´r´: The Bambifoot Festival to Discover Young Talents

Dj´r´: The regional coordination of Bambifoot in Dj´r´, in collaboration with the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF), organized the 2nd edition of the Bambifoot Festival on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the regional stadium in Gaoua. The festival was dedicated to promoting football among toddlers and detecting future talents.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this activity is part of the Bambifoot project, an initiative of the FBF, implemented with the support of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). The project aims to encourage the practice of football from a young age. Souleymane Pagbel¨me, the representative of the national Bambifoot coordination, expressed his satisfaction with the technical progress made by the children. He noted a marked improvement in several exercises, including ball control, team games, penalty kicks, and slalom drills, compared to the first edition. He congratulated the coaches for their efforts and urged them to maintain their focus, while also encouraging the children to be more diligent in attending training sessions.

Mr. Pagbel¨me reiterated that the Bambifoot project aims to promote the practice of football among children to detect and train future talents capable of representing Burkina Faso on the national and international stages. Representing the regional director of Sports, Youth and Employment of Dj´r´, Seydou Traor© expressed satisfaction with the holding of this second edition. He remarked that the festival took place with satisfactory organization and active participation from the children in various sporting activities spread over five fields, including matches (5 against 5, 7 against 7), shooting exercises, and ball handling.

Mr. Traor© congratulated the young participants for their commitment and expressed his gratitude to the supervisors and all those involved who contributed to the success of the event. He also invited parents to accompany and support their children in their sports training. This initiative reflects the commitment of Burkinabe football stakeholders to invest in grassroots training, considered an essential lever for the emergence of future national talents.

The FBF has been pursuing this path in collaboration with the supreme body of world football, with several regions organizing similar activities simultaneously.
