Sanmatenga: The Islamic Cultural Center of Burkina Faso (CCIB) launched a peace caravan called “Djama Beog-n©r©” in Kaya on Thursday, May 29, 2025. The departure from Kaya was marked by advocacy meetings, sermons, and a free concert for the benefit of the population.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the peace caravan, themed ‘Culture in the Service of Peace’, aims to foster social cohesion and promote peace in Burkina Faso. The caravan set off from Kaya and will travel through Ziniar© to Ouagadougou, engaging communities along the way.
“We are one family, and Burkina Faso is our homeland,” said the CCIB coordinator, emphasizing the importance of unity. The activities in Kaya included advocacy meetings, sermons by religious leaders, and performances by musicians and comedians, all centered on peace and social cohesion.
Imam Alidou Ilboudo remarked, “We met with people of diverse beliefs and tried to identify where the problems of living together lie in order to identify solutions together.” This approach seeks to bridge differences and find common ground among the communities.
The initiative was welcomed by Adama Simpor©, the 1st Vice-President of the Kaya Special Communal Delegation. Simpor© acknowledged that the caravan aligns with local authorities’ efforts to ensure peaceful coexistence among community members despite individual and collective differences.
